Itinerary
Day 1: Arrival in Madrid
Arrival at Madrid Airport and welcome by a local guide. Panoramic city tour by coach. Transfer and check-in at your hotel for 6 nights. Dinner at the hotel.
Day 2: Madrid
After breakfast, guided tour of the city’s major landmarks: Royal Palace, Gran Vía, Plaza de España, Puerta del Sol, Arco de Triunfo, Plaza Mayor with Casa de la Panadería, San Miguel Market and the Archbishop’s Palace. Free time for lunch. In the afternoon, walking tour of the old streets and sites from Spain’s Golden Age. Dinner in a local restaurant.
Day 3: Madrid
Breakfast at the hotel. Guided visit to the Prado Museum. Lunch and free time to visit the Thyssen-Bornemisza Museum or enjoy shopping along Serrano Street. Dinner in a restaurant.
Day 4: El Escorial & Segovia
Departure after breakfast to visit the Monastery of El Escorial. Lunch and then transfer to Segovia to admire the Roman aqueduct, the Alcázar and the Cathedral of Santa María. Dinner in a local restaurant.
Day 5: Toledo
Breakfast and departure to Toledo, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Guided tour of the city, including its cathedral, synagogues and narrow medieval streets. Lunch. Dinner in a local restaurant in Toledo.
Day 6: Ávila
After breakfast, visit the walled city of Ávila, also a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Free time for lunch. Visit the Convent of Saint Teresa. Return to Madrid. Dinner at the hotel restaurant.
Day 7: Valladolid
Check out after breakfast and travel to Valladolid, following the Duero River route. Visits include the National Museum of Sculpture, the Cathedral, the Royal Palace, Columbus’ House-Museum and the covered Passage of Gutiérrez. Free time for lunch. Check-in for 3 nights in Valladolid. Dinner at the hotel.
Day 8: Burgos - Valladolid
Breakfast and visit to the historic center of Burgos: the Cathedral of Santa María, Casa del Cordón and the Archaeological Museum. Free time for lunch. In the afternoon, visit the Cartuja de Miraflores monastery just outside the city. Return to Valladolid. Dinner at the hotel.
Day 9: Departure
Transfer to Madrid Airport.
